Voice is integral to all performance from performing as a character on stage, to presenting as yourself in a business context. Learning how to unlock your voice can help you increase in confidence and bring new depth and integrity to your performance.
AUTUMN - Acting Shakespeare: Finding the Fun (8 weeks / 8 sessions)
This practical course will enable you to find the fun and freedom to play Shakespeare. Texts will be explored through contemporary contexts to release participants from the fear of approaching Shakespeare's language. With one on Central's expert tutors, you'll be guided through a variety of contemporary acting techniques to facilitate ownership of the language.

You will be introduced to theoretical knowledge and essential practical skills needed for a career as a theatre director.
AUTUMN - Playwriting: An Introduction (8 weeks / 8 sessions)
Meeting once a week for eight intensive lessons this playwriting course is an exciting opportunity to work with an established playwright to explore the fundamentals of writing a play.
By the end of the course you will have the tools you need to continue on your playwriting journey and have ideas for your plot, a developed breakdown of your characters and a fully written and analysed first scene. You will also be introduced to the skills involved in redrafting your script and working with notes. In the final lesson, you will see your scene acted out by actors on one of our parallel courses.
Acting for Beginners (3 days)
Central's Acting for Beginners course is ideal for those who enjoy exploring their creativity and wish to try their hand at acting.
You will work with experienced tutors who will aim to nurture both your confidence and creativity in a safe and fun environment.
Shakespeare for Beginners: Finding the Fun (2 weeks)
Central's Playing Shakespeare course will enable you to begin to engage practically and theoretically with Shakespeare’s plays.
During the course you will attend a production of a Shakespeare play showing in London. In the past students have visited Shakespeare’s Globe, the Hampstead Theatre and The Actor’s Church.
Public Speaking and Presentation Skills (2 days)
Co-delivered by two expert Voice & Communication Trainers, this two day course offers you a deeper exploration of the skills necessary to become a more confident, connected and compelling presenter.
Do you feel you could be doing so much more if you could overcome your fear of public speaking? Are you competent but your role requires more of you than it did previously? Intercultural Shakespeare (4 days)
On this four day course you will experience Shakespeare anew. Delivered by expert practitioners, with practical exercises to develop your performing skills and with lively discussions to deepen your understanding of Shakespeare in intercultural performance, you will approach characters and scenes from Shakespeare as they can be understood by Japanese theatre, Bollywood and the African diaspora.
Facilitation Skills for Actors, Directors and Artists
Are you a practitioner who wants to gain skills in facilitation and teaching? Or perhaps you would like to brush up on your existing skills?
This is a practical introductory one-day course that will give you the skills to plan and deliver workshops in your area of expertise.
Acting for Camera for Beginners (5 days)
This course is for students who have little or no experience of acting for camera and is ideal for those wishing to learn more about the process.
Using a range of commercial, television and film scripts, students will gain experience in scenes and camera set-ups. You will develop an understanding of the more technical aspects of shooting a scene, whilst maintaining a focus on acting.
